Welcome Back, Summoners | League of Legends Classic Animation
I had the great opportunity to work as a Cleanup, Color & Character Model Supervisor on Welcome Back, Summoners | League of Legends Classic Animation, alongside the Histeria! Studios team, directed by Chico Bela, with Victor Tchaba as Art Director.
This project gave me the opportunity to be closely involved in several stages of production, from pre-production through final delivery, working alongside the Art Direction, Layout, and Cleanup teams to establish and maintain the visual consistency of the animation.
During pre-production, I worked closely with the Art Direction team to help define the line finishing style, develop visual tests, and establish workflows that would support a consistent visual language throughout the project. I also collaborated with the Layout team and contributed to the finalization of the character modelsheets, as well as the development and supervision of styleframes for each scene.
These materials were essential for supervising the character models, providing the Cleanup team with clear and accurate visual references. This helped ensure consistency in character proportions, shapes, line quality, and other visual elements throughout the scenes.
I was also responsible for developing a Cleanup guide/tutorial for the team, organizing production guidelines and support materials, including explanatory videos, to help artists understand and follow the project’s finishing standards. The guide focused primarily on maintaining consistency and standardization in linework, color application, and the key details required to preserve the visual identity established by the Art Direction.
Throughout production, I maintained clear and close communication with the team, following the development of the scenes, answering questions, providing feedback, and helping ensure that the established workflows were consistently applied. My responsibilities also included a thorough review of deliveries, identifying potential inconsistencies in character models, linework, color, and finishing before the scenes were submitted for approval.
It was a very enriching experience, particularly because I was able to follow the project from its visual development and workflow design through to the final execution, working closely with characters and visual elements from the League of Legends universe.
